FOLLOW STEPS IN ORDER!

Follow these steps in order to speed up the processing of your Texas License to Carry (LTC). If you have questions or problems, call the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) at 512-424-7293, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

                    DO NOT CALL YOUR INSTRUCTOR FOR ASSISTANCE!

STEP 1: CREATE YOUR TxT and RSD Connect ACCOUNTS

1. If you do not already have a Texas by Texas (TxT) account, go to https://txt.texas.gov and create one. You will use this same login for RSD Connect in the next step.

2. Go to https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/handgun-licensing and select the RSD Connect “Login” link or button.

3. On the RSD Connect sign-in screen, choose “Create Account,” “Register,” or a similar new-user option.

4. Enter your name, date of birth, and contact information exactly as they appear on your Texas driver license or Texas ID. Use an email address you check regularly, because DPS may send verification and account messages there.

5. Create your login, complete any identity-verification steps, and confirm your email if asked.

6. Log out and sign back in.  Choose the service you need:

• New Texas License to Carry application

• LTC renewal

• Application or license status

• Address change or replacement license, if applicable

ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE ONLINE APPLICATION, GO TO STEP 2 TO SCHEDULE YOUR FINGERPRINTS.

STEP 2: FINGERPRINTS

You must start your online state application before you make your fingerprint appointment.

1. Go to https://uenroll.identogo.com.

2. When asked for a Service Code, enter 119Q91.

3. When asked for a city, enter Mesquite, Texas.

4. Select the location at 2405 IH 30 (The Gun Zone).

5. Complete your appointment.

STEP 3: UPLOAD DOCUMENTS

All documents must be in PDF format.

Not every applicant has to submit documents. Some may need to provide documents for things like:

• A military-related fee discount

• Proof of Texas residency, in limited cases

• Proof of eligibility related to past legal proceedings

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Do I need to send a photograph to the State of Texas?

No, not if you have a Texas driver license or Texas ID. Texas uses the photo from your most recent driver license or ID for your License to Carry. If a photo is needed, DPS will contact you with instructions.

Who do I call for help or answers?

For help with the licensing process or your application status, call the DPS Regulatory Services Division at 512-424-7293. Do not call your instructor.

How long will it take?

Applications without complications usually take three to four weeks once all steps are done, including fingerprints.
